Hello everyone, I am Dt Abhilasha Prasad and this is the first blog of this year.So today we are talking about the nutrients of ghee and its benefits.

AYURVEDA says- Ghee is the nourishpĺer and healer of the body. It benefits the entire body by balancing doshas and building dhatus or tissues.
Ghee increases the agni or digestive fire which helps the body absorb minerals and vitamins. Ghee also pulls fat-soluble toxins out of the body. In nutshell, it is one of the most essential dietary foods.

So, why did the world switch to refined oil for cooking? Seedha logic hai yaar. Vegetable cooking oils were produced as a cheap substitute for natural cooking oils.
But ghee is one of the most misunderstood superfoods that you should actually consume. Know 5 reasons why Desi ghee is better than refined oils.

1. GHEE IS NATURAL AND PURE- Refined oil is obtained after it undergoes refinement or repeated chemical processing to get rid of suspended particles, toxic residues, and color and flavor, because of which the oil is tasteless and bland. In fact, it is a 7-step process that involves heating the oil to extreme temperatures; consuming reheated oils is toxic to health.

2. GHEE AIDS WEIGHT LOSS- Ghee contains a compound- Conjugated Linoleic Acid, which, according to research aids in combatting obesity by reducing body fat. CLA is also known to improve insulin resistance. Good digestion means healthy weight loss. Desi Ghee contains another compound named Butyrate or Butyric Acid which acts as a gut coolant and improves digestive function.

3. GHEE IS ADEK-RICH- Desi ghee is a rich source of all fat-soluble vitamins. They are important for maintaining a healthy metabolism. Ghee also contains Vitamin K2, which helps the body absorb minerals like calcium, ghee is considered among the best natural healers of bone and joint health.

4. VITAMIN A SUPREMACY- Just a tablespoon of Ghee can fulfill 15% of the Required Daily Intake of Vitamin A. Vitamin A acts as a line of defense that guard our organs against attack by foreign particles. It also protects the mucous membrane of the eyes, lungs, and intestine.

5. HIGHEST SMOKE POINT- Ghee has a smoke point of around 250. This means that you can heat ghee at high temperatures and it will not lose its original form or release harmful free radicles that cause cancer, heart diseases etc.
Refined oils, on the other hand, get oxidized easily because of the high amount of Poly Unsaturated Fatty Acids in the presence of heat, light, or oxygen.

AN ALARMING FACT ABOUT REFINED OILS NO ONE WILL TELL YOU

The process of chemical refinement involves a chemical named- Nickel. Nickel is a heavy metal that has cancer-causing properties which makes it hazardous to respiratory, liver, and skin health.

BOTTOMLINE- We agree, Ghee contains cholesterol in abundance, but as per important research, Dietary ghee significantly decreased total cholesterol levels by 10–25% in the serum, and by 7–14% in the intestinal mucosal cells, compared to control animals fed groundnut oil.

Still, a lot of ghee can actually harm heart health since excess of everything is bad. 2-3 tsp of cow ghee per day is recommended for daily consumption by a healthy individual.
Ghee made from cow milk is considered the best for health.
